City Manager

City Manager Susan M. Nicosia  was appointed in June 2011.  Susan Nicosia has previously  served Columbia Falls as the Finance Director/City Clerk, Mayor and Council member.  Ms. Nicosia has over 25 years serving local governments in different capacities, including external auditor, internal auditor, finance director, elected official, or consultant.  Susan holds a Bachelor of Science Business Administration degree and  a Masters of Public Administration Degree and is a Certified Public Accountant.

A common question asked by citizens is “Why do I need to talk to the City Manager, doesn’t the Mayor run the City?”

Actually, no. In our commission-manager form of government, the City Manager is the day-to-day manager of City business and activities.

The Mayor’s primary responsibility is to preside over City Council meetings. Otherwise, the job is largely ceremonial.
